How can QuickBooks Online support multiple companies?
There is an accountant “version” or interface for QB Online… It keeps all your companies listed in a dashboard with “to-do’s” and provides a link to each client, and a drop-down menu of all your clients at the top.
Intuit also has a Mac App that does the same, and you can have several client’s books opened at once. (I don’t use it because it freezes up frequently on my Mac. They need to do some work on it!
Quickbooks Online makes it very difficult to switch between companies. In order to switch, you have to simply log out and log into the other company. If you call their support center, they say there is a law requiring them to implement this method but won’t explain the law. They also make you change your password every 90 days.

You need a separate subscription for each company file.
When using Chrome for QBO, I recommend setting up a specific Chrome user just for QBO.
You can open more than one company file at the same time by setting up multiple Chrome users.
